헉, 비행기 안에서 스튜어디스에게 ‘청혼’

Passengers on TAP flight TP744 which departed from Lisbon to Barcelona on Monday (January 17), watched with surprise as a unique marriage proposal was made as an in-flight announcement.
17일(현지 시간) 리스본 발 바르셀로나행 탑포르투갈(TAP) 항공사의 TP744 여객기에 탑승한 승객들은 기내 방송으로 한 남자가 청혼을 하는 아주 흔치 않은 순간을 함께 했다.
Just as surprised, was crew member Vera Silva, whose boyfriend was travelling on the flight on one of his usual business trips.Silva, 29, had worked at the PGA, the Company's Regional TAP, for around three years and has been dating groom to-be, Joao Vieira, 33, for four years.
승무원인 베라 시우바(29) 씨도 많이 놀랐다. 이 여객기엔 출장이 잦은 그녀의 남자친구 조아오 비에이라 씨(33)도 타고 있었다. 시우바 씨는 3년 간 탑 항공사 소속 지역항공사인 PGA 항공에서 근무해 왔고 남자친구와 4년 간 교제 중이다.
Vieira mustered the courage to take advantage of this latest trip, went to the cabin phone service and asked his girlfriend to marry him"Vera Silva the reason for my presence on this flight are two reasons," he declared over the airplane's intercom before surprised passengers.
용기를 내고 비행기에 오른 비에이라 씨는 기내 방송으로 여자 친구에게 청혼을 했다.
비에이라 씨가 기내 방송 설비를 사용해 다음과 같이 말하기 시작하자 승객들이 깜짝 놀랐다.
“베라 시우바, 내가 이 비행기에 탄 데에는 두 가지 이유가 있어.”
"The first is because I love you a lot and because I want to ask you a question: will you marry me?"Grabbing a microphone from the other end of the cabin, a stunned Vera Silva replied "Yes" to applause from the crew and travellers.
“첫 번째는 내가 당신을 무척 사랑하기 때문이고, 두 번째는 당신에게 물어보고 싶은 게 있기 때문이야. 나랑 결혼해 주겠어?”
객실 반대편에서 방송을 들은 베라 시우바 씨는 얼떨떨한 표정으로 마이크를 잡고 “좋아요”라고 답해 동료 승무원과 승객들의 박수와 환호를 받았다.
"Initially, shock, embarrassment. A lot of embarrassment! I thought about hiding me in the bathroom but then I thought twice," Silva said afterwards about her initial reaction to the novel proposal. "The attitude he had today, it's been so ever since I met him, but this time he excels himself."
이 흔치 않은 청혼을 받은 시우바 씨가 당시 기분을 다음과 같이 말했다.
“처음에는 무척 놀라고 쑥스러웠다. 무척 쑥스러웠다. 화장실에 숨어있을까 생각하기도 했지만 그러지 않기로 했다. 남자친구는 늘 멋있었지만 오늘이 가장 멋있었다.”
Crew members operating the flight, who are personal friends of both the bride and groom, were complicit in making the special moment happen.
예비 신랑·신부와 개인적으로 친분이 있는 여객기 승무원들이 이 특별한 청혼이 이뤄지도록 도왔다.
"In 35 years, is the first time this has happened, It was funny!" said flight captain Pedro Mathias.More than 80 passengers also ended up as unwitting participants in the unfolding love story.
기장 페드로 마티아스 씨의 말이다.
“35년 간의 비행경력에서 이런 일은 처음이다. 재미있었다!”
80여 명의 승객들도 자기도 모르는 사이 이 러브 스토리 전개에 일조했다.
"It's the first time I see a marriage proposal on a plane and will stay for the story. Very touching . Congratulations to the grooms," said one Brazilian passenger.
“비행기에서 청혼을 하는 모습은 처음 본다. 항상 이 청혼 이야기가 생각날 것 같다. 무척 감동적이다. 예비 신랑에게 축하한다고 말하고 싶다.” 한 브라질 승객이 말했다.
"It seemed very pretty the action of the boy. Cheers and hope that everything will be as beautiful as the proposal," said another passenger from Venezuela.
베네수엘라에서 온 다른 승객은 “굉장히 남자다웠다. 축하한다. 멋진 청혼만큼이나 아름다운 일들이 앞으로 두 사람에게 일어나길 바란다”고 말했다.
